  • How to quit smoking?
By Health Blog on June 25, 2009 | No Comments Comments

It’s very difficult to quit smoking once addicted because tobacco is one of the most dangerous narcotic and make the people as its slaves and makes them difficult to give-up and makes them feel very much happy when the people are feeling tension and in critical situations. But so many don’t know the effects of the cigarette but they only know that it causes harm to their health. Smoking make our lungs like tar filled sponges and they are that much powerful and able to spoil our lungs to that level. Smoking first affects lungs then teeth and then blood and then finally heart. People don’t know that there is no treatment for the lungs. Even there is no technology for transplantation of lungs. Smoking is the main reason for lung cancer. So it is very important to quit smoking.

What we have to do is that we have to restrict ourselves and we should have so much confidence and control in our hand to quit smoking. As we can’t stop all at a time, we have to reduce the number of cigarettes we smoke by 1 for every month and if we do so continuously we will surely quit within 2 or 3 years and we also don’t feel very much difference. There are so many devices which provide the artificial feeling of smoking and scientists are saying that these devices are very helpful to quit smoking as they provide the feeling of smoking. We should be very much deterministic and strong in order to quit smoking.

  • Lasik operation for eye sight defects …
By Health Blog on June 24, 2009 | No Comments Comments

So many people in today’s world suffering with eye sight defect and are not able to see without proper spectacles and this is due the over workload and environment in which people are working and due to the more stress and strain to the eyes. Now a days there are only few people without spectacles because of the stress to the eyes while they are reading. Some people can adjust with wearing spectacles but for some it is compulsory that they should not have the eye sight defect more than the limit like for the jobs of army or air force etc. These people had to go for Lasik or laser eye operation to get their eye sight back.
After Lasik we will get back our eye sight properly but there are situations in which this will not cure completely and sometimes also creates additional problems also. The people who want to have Lasik much have the age more than 25 years and not only this they must ensure that the eye sight has not increased since 1 year at least so that it won’t increase after the Lasik. If we do less than this age, eye sight will again increase after Lasik. There are some cases that people are suffering with problems like not able to read properly and the letters getting blurred and getting water from eyes. So we should take so much care on our eyes after the operation and put less stress on the eyes.

  • What to do when wounds occur ?
By Health Blog on June 24, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Wounds that look infected and big wounds should be changed every day. Small wounds can be changed every other or third day until it is closed. If the dressing or the bandages get wet through we must change immediately because wet bandages are easy access for bacteria to the wound. So always tell your patients to keep their bandages dry and clean.

So, the steps which one can follow for the wound care treatment can be summarized as follows:
    • Stop the Bleeding
    • Clean the wound
    • Apply Antibiotic, if necessary
    • Cover the wound with bandage
    • Change Dressing, if necessary.

After these basic first aid care steps are done, make a point to watch out for symptoms of infection and visit the doctor if swelling, drainage, redness, or warmth occurs. For preventing infections that may lead to further ramifications, basic first aid care for wounds is necessary. Be sure you’re ready to treat wounds with the right first aid know-how’s, and always keep a first aid kit within easy reach.

  • How to cure Chronic wounds
By Health Blog on June 23, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Chronic wounds can be harder to care for. We always look for signs of infection. The signs are redness, oozing, heat, inflammation, puss, pulse-feeling in wound and distinct smell. If a wound is infected and the person has fever they need antibiotics. We need to clean the wound. If there is a lot of dead skin or debris in it we must try and remove it. It can be good to bathe the wound in water with antiseptic soap in it to loosen the dead skin and debris. After we bathe the wound we should shower it with boiled cooled down water (not the same water we bathed the wound in) and remove all debris if possible. If there are black patches in the wound or necrosis we must cut that away. Healthy wound that is in healing process should look red, no smell, sometimes yellow patches which is fibrin and is good. The edges must also be clean and healthy because wounds close from the edges. If edges or skin around the wound has fungal infection the wound will not close.

Then we put dressing on it. Use antibiotic cream in infected wounds and petroleum jelly in clean wounds. If the wound is oozing a lot or has much puss in it we must put thick patches of gauze on it.
