    The symptoms of gingivitis

While proper oral hygiene is the most common preventative cure for gingivitis, there are two different types of the periodontal disease; dental plaque induced gingivitis and the non plaque induced gingival lesions. The most common type of gingivitis is plaque induced which is usually prevented with improved dental hygiene.

If gingivitis symptoms occur you should first see your dentist or dental hygienist, but if the symptoms are very mild or you simply wish to avoid plaque induced gingivitis, there are a few things you can do.

    • Brush your teeth daily, morning and night
    • Floss your teeth daily
    • Regularly use an anti gingivitis mouthwash recommended by your dentist
    • It is also recommended to have your teeth cleaned regularly by your dentist to remove the plaque build up which brushing misses.

Good oral hygiene promotes all over general health and eliminates any health problems caused by poor oral hygiene.

An annual clean at your dentist to remove plaque buildup is also advised. Along with flossing and regular brushing.
